Mouldy car interior

ORIGINAL POST

I went on holiday for a few weeks and when I came back, the interior of my car was covered in white mould! My brother, who works in car insurance overseas, says the car is ruined and will have to be taken as a complete loss and scrapped.

I tried washing the seats with soapy water, but the mould came back a few days later. I also had the car service company steam clean it - again, the mould came back within a week.

Any suggestions? Is my car really a total loss?

Sorry to hear about this.

I presume the mould has not marked the leather, just it keeps coming back.

In which case, I suggest you go to a supermarket & look for those mositure absorbers. They are normally next to the mothballs because they are intended for your closet. put them in your car & let them suck the moisture out. when its dried out, repeat the cleaning.

good luck.

A mild 10 to 1 mixture of water and white vinegar solution to wash all the surfaces, then the moisture absorbing crystals should help.
