Hello ,

I am currently living in china. I would like to give birth in Hong kong.

Does anyone know the process of giving birth in Hong kong and travling back to China. I am a US citizen.

will the child be allowed to have a Hong kong ID card ?

more or less how long does the process take

thanks

You need to book an appointment with one of the doctors here first and then schedule a booking for the hospital. The child will not be eligible for ID card.

It is a fairly recent decision made by the government to stop the over crowding in the hospitals and also claiming residency.

Babies not born to parents with established/permanent residency are not entitled to HK ID.
