Hubby and I will be relocating from London beg of July pending visa approval. His office is based in Taikoo and would appreciate some feed back re some areas that we think would be good for commuting. 30-45 mins travelling would be fine. Sheung Wan, causeway Bay, kennedy Town, Sai Wan Ho, Tin Hau or perhaps Wong Tai Sin. I realise away from HK Island will give us more square footage. Cannot do ferries so the islands are out of bounds for me unfortunately. Budgeting a maximum 18 k for a two bed flat. Is the budget realistic? We do not have kids.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Many thanks.

For that budget, you should be able to get something in Tai Koo Shing.

Thank you Punter.

What's Taikoo Shing like? Looking for quiet and fairly new building.

Cheers

Tai Koo Shing is old but must be the closest to where your husband is going to work. It seems like a nice place and have very convenient transportation links.

You can get a 2 bedroom place for 18k in a few places. However, it is not 2 bed by UK standards AT ALL. They say 2 bedroom, but the second bedroom is more like a storage room, with maybe enough room for a fold out futon or single bed if you're lucky.

Can you give any other info? Do you want quieter area? More expats? What you get for your money is also very much dependent on whether it is 'newer western style' or older Chinese style.

Feel free to pm me.
