Even the address is fake. There is no 10A Po Peng Street.
Please support our advertisers:
Me too! After having experienced the same thing with "Sandra Gloeckner" I was quick to tell "Xong Hiu" that I do not post items!
Please support our advertisers:
yes i got those 2 on asking me to post things!
Please support our advertisers:
The username, Xonghiu22, is a suspected scam.
Modus operandi is similar, you must reply to a email.
The time of their Asiaxpat should be a telltale sign, 3am. They must be operating from a different timezone.
Please disable this user.
Also, consider disabling the website at certain ungodly hours for HK users, the scammers must be operating from a diffferent timezone.

Exact same response from Xonghiu22 to an ad I placed. Reported to admin and the user is banned now. As a rule now I will be wary of users sending me their e-mail addresses and asking me to contact them if I was interested in selling?!!

Got the below message asking to email to the same person xonnghiu but using another username, please beware and help to block this user. Thanks!

Where can we meet for pick up or you help me post after full payment, mail to my e mail (xonnghiu@gmail.com) and i will reply you asap.
Please support our advertisers:
This is the exact same email when he first approached me. Watch out and DO NOT SEND HIM ANYTHING!
Please support our advertisers:
I didn't see this post till now.
I haven't sent anything but I did provide my account number.
Advice? As far as I know they can't access my account without any other details?
Any insight would be helpful.
thanks

I ended up giving my phone number and account number but as long as you haven't divulged any passwords you should be ok! Call up your bank just incase (I did!) and ask them if they could put a note on your account to look out for any suspicious transactions. Also, I just reported a user called WOONGSUNG who was soliciting the same email (xonnghiu@gmail.com) for transferring and mailing . Please report the user to info@asiaxpat.com. They are really prompt at taking action and will ban the user as well as the IP associated with it.

I was also contacted by him. Also goes by the name Mr (or Captain) Xang Lee. He said he had posted the money through a Navy Credit Union. The email address he asked me to use was: success404us@gmail.com. I also would ask Asia Expat to somehow ban him!
Please support our advertisers:
Same here with Captain WONG CHAN with the email wongchan00@gmail.com, and response from another user with similar content and sentence structure in the reply message. There could be hundreds of thousands of name and contacts in this trick so banning the user is rather passive and never ends. Perhaps a more effective way is Asia Expat posting a formal warning notice on the front page.
The story just happened yesterday I did give my bank details and even had conversation with him via whatsapp (it was not a local number). Luckily I was left with a bit of them to be suspicious and checked the given Peng Chau address.......then found out this thread.
I blocked his phone, went to my HSBC bank immediately and was assured that it should be safe without disclosing any password. To play safe, I just opened another integrated account and transfer all the savings.
One thing I couldn't get it is how could they take any advantage if the postal address is fake? By getting our mailing receipt via his Navy Credit Union bank?

three dodgy replies to a single advert. i never used to get any spam/scam messages from this site. i've only noticed it since the facelift - previously i've never had a single one. perhaps asiaxpat needs to rethink its registration process. or include a report button.

Yeah, A "Report Button" on incoming message WOULD be helpful !
We "whingers" have to take time out of our busy lives to post a a complaint HERE - and TRY to read it when the complaint is "Skinny grey characters" on a white background.
THAT is something that I **HATE** - why hasn't the "Web designer" taken into account persons with failing sight?????
I know - from friends - that this state of affairs has been going on for YEARS - despite complaints!
Now, I laid my disgust on these "Skinny grey characters" on the "management" several times in recent months - to NO AVAIL !!

xonghiu@gmail.com did the same to me.
for those who gave out account number and phone number, did anything happen in the end? kindly share your experiences. I did the same last night and will keep you posted. thanks.

I wonder if this email address should be reported to the Hong Kong Police so that they can investigate as to what xonghiu is actually doing with all the personal data he/ she is collecting?

just happened to me as well. not sure what he would get out of this since I would never ship the good until I see money in the bank first then ship it. My banker friend assured me that no one can get to your account with only email address, full name and bank account number.
Please support our advertisers:
for me, it got suspicious since Peng Chau is a fishing village. what fisherman would need an expensive electric guitar? haha.
Please support our advertisers:
@Minghigh
He probably was working on getting a street band together as he wanted my Chiyao portable speaker system :P
Please support our advertisers:
I'm extremely curious how this scam can work though. Hopefully, he's a moron scammer with no brain and have not thought the scam through....duhhh.
Please support our advertisers:
wondering what one can do with account number, name, and phone number... any experts here can advise?
Please support our advertisers:
my prestige account at hang seng bank and HSBC bank tell me that not much. without your ATM card, and password, he can't touch your account or money.

Same response to two of my posts. Have just spent ages trying to see how to contact 'ED' but to no avail. Not just musically interested as he did not respond to my electric guitar ad!

Thanks all for the heads up, I got an email from the same guy so he's still active. Glad I saw this thread!
Please support our advertisers:
I reported to the police for their record and let this guy know that he's under investigation and hopefully make him think twice
Please support our advertisers:
If you check the other forum topics under the same scam artist, you see what he's doing. It's a Western union scam....same stuff with another twist.

I'm also on the hook with this guy. Also had Sandra Gloeckner chasing me up to send to the US.
Our friend, Xong Hiu, has a Nigerian phone number though he's in the US Navy currently on assignment in the UK. He chose the Nigerian what's app number due to the nature of his work. No, really. And I need to send the item to the same name and address on Peng Chau (above) for his birthday. Anyone else have to send birthday presents to mr Leo Wong?
My question is this: how does this person benefit from this scam? We have an address that the item will be sent to. How would they claim it? Anyone on Peng Chau familiar with the address? A google maps search pulls it up.
I sent the page link to him

I am sure you are correct. I just sent a parcel and he promised to credit account but instead he has asked for a transfer to a western union account which I am refusing to do.
Unfortunately he has my details of account ets
I will go to police but probably no use
Please support our advertisers:
I have to send birthday present to Leo Wong too! He is a music lover... he'd like to buy concert tickets this time. Thanks guys here!
Please support our advertisers:
Leo Wong is one lucky guy. he's gets more birthday presents than anyone In the world!!!
These guys prey on innocent people who are scared by the bogus email from some credit union threatening you to transfer money since the guy over paid your asking price.
the bogus credit union ask you to return the difference immediately to a western union account or they will come after you and prosecute you and call the police.
A percentage of us good people will get scared and return the supposedly extra money transferred to your account subject to receiving the goods. meantime, they want you to credit transfer to the western union account without actually getting your money in the bank first.

I've been asked to send something to Cheung Chau. Happy birthday William Chang. I hope you like the baby clothes.
Here's what the bank says "Make sure the copies you send are legible, to avoid your arrest on just Order from the Vice Admiral (World Wide)".
