Caveat Emptor

As a long time and daily user of the Classifieds section, I have recently noticed a surge in some seller(s) claiming their wares to be 'vintage' or 'antique', when clearly, the items are not. They may be old - as in old and worn - but the vast majority are not what they say they are and have no provenance at all, other than being stored in someone's back yard with a pile of other junk. More disturbing is the amount these sellers are asking for some of this stuff.

Now I realise people can sell whatever they like, ask what ever they wish for them and it is up to the buyer to determine how valuable anything is worth to them - it's how the system works. But buyer beware: be careful not to be fooled by someone claiming an item to be vintage or antique and trying to charge a fortune. This is on par with any other Classifieds scam in these forums - scammers trying to get money out of people and by claiming an item is something it is not.
