Major renovations have recently started on the exterior of the building where we have been renting a flat for a few years. Our landlord is generally a reasonable person so we have requested a discount in the rent for the period of the renovations (expected to be six months with scaffolding blocking light from the windows and all the associated drilling noise etc). We work a lot from home so drilling noise during office hours isn't exactly ideal.
What would be a suitable rent reduction to accept from the landlord? He has already admitted that if we move out, he will have great difficulty letting the flat with the renovations underway. We currently pay 12,500 HKD per month.
