Situation..
Bought a 2nd hand car, and was told the engine was original.
The short warranty has expired and now have engine has a serious problem.

Garage has found that the engine is not original and that the engine number was filed off and another was badly stamped in its place.
In their opinion (garage) the engine was of a much higher mileage than the car's odometer.

Is there any legal recourse possible in HK ?

thanks.

Did you sign any agreement (between both parties)? And if so, does it cover any legal recourse in the event of a problem?

well i guess in hong kong its very hard to sue the one who sold you the car..

maybe next time if you are going to buy another 2nd car, you should go drop off the car to one of the auto repair service and ask for their initial check up usually cost $500

in hong kong there are people who sold bad cars with fake mileage and stuffs... so usually we will go to the service and check if in the car parts are all offical, if the car engine is leaking or etc...

Hope this help!
