Thought I would share a bit of intel with anyone interested. We recently had a baby so I've been on the look out for a top-loading chest freezer to store all our frozen goods including pumped milk. Notoriously difficult to find in HK but obviously there is a way to get them as I see used ones come up from time to time in various places. I tried taobao (wont ship to HK), amazon UK (wont ship), and found one place online that has it but it was 4k not including shipping and in new territories.
I FINALLY found where one can get them pretty easily. There are a bunch of kitchenware stores on Shanghai street in Yau Ma Tei that sell these types of white goods. My friend told me about them and I finally went, bought one and got it the same night delivered to pokfulam.
I got a 100L chest freezer - some Chinese brand made in China for 2200 HKD. 1 year warranty. Delivery was not so straightforward - at first they said i'd have to do a gogovan thing which would have been OK but their delivery conrtractor person happened to show up and he said he could do it for another 350 - not including lifting or anything, but the thing had wheels so was easy to bring up. They had another one too for 3k HKD that was made in Denmark and slightly larger, but didn't have wheels. Anyway, this place was precisely at G/F, 157 Reclamation St, called First hand Refrigeration Kitchen Equipment Engineering - telephone 2770 8386. I'm not plugging the store as I just got the freezer and don't know if it's good or not but it's just a freezer. I saw a ton of other stores around there so feel free to check out the whole area first if you like.
Happy freezing.

Yup thats the number. Hmm that is strange keep trying maybe they were on holiday? They have an email on the business card too - Firsthand1@ymail.com but I think that would be even less reliable. You could also just show up too. I called them only once before I came to check closing time and Inthink it was 7 gluck-!
