Women's underwear

I will be traveling to Hong Kong soon. While I'm there, I want to pick up some Western underwear, particularly panties but maybe also bras and lingerie. Brands like Victoria's Secret are good. Is it still true that these brands can be found at the markets? Are they rejects or what? If so, which markets? What is the price range and quality. Do they have all sizes (I need large). Any other advice? Thanks in advance!

One more thing, is there a good variety of styles? Can one bargain and get discounts for buying multiple items?

I don't know where you are travelling from, or where you have heard that HK is a good place to buy 'Western' underware (especially if you need anything larger than say a UK size 12/14, or bra size 34/36), but I don't know any of my western friends who buy underware in HK, we all tend to buy online from the UK/US, or wait until we have a trip back home to stock up! The best option here is Marks & Spencer, who do stock some larger sizes, but that's about it I'm afraid!

Hi, thanks for the info. I meant to write that I'm interested in checking out the factory surplus markets. I found some information online that they exist, but not a lot. I'm traveling from within Asia, so HK is my best bet :P. I'm a male, so finding women's underwear that's the right size is difficult.

What is Marks and Spencer like? Do they have a good selection and are the prices good?

Well, good luck trying to find some ... and if you do, let us 'Western size girls' know where to get them from ... we'd love to know!!;-)

Haha thanks, Sapphire :). Sounds like it might be a little more difficult than I imagined. I'm determined to find some, but we'll see. I'll be thrilled if I find some good stuff!

I'm also interested in finding some cute outfits. Or are skirts and blouses and the like also hard to come by that will fit Westerners? Do you think store owners will mind a guy shopping around for himself?


Sapphire, when you said "larger than 34/36" does that mean they have 36? I wear a 36B, so I have my fingers crossed. Or should I give up hope?


Hehe, I want to ask one more thing! How good are the outlet shops?


And does anyone have experience with the surplus market or street markets? I see some pictures of underwear stalls at markets and they look like heaven. If so, how much do things cost? I read one place that panties are less than HK$10 and bras are less than HK$40. I had been planning on budgeting about HK$1500-2000, so that should do it, right? (I just hope I can control my spending if the shopping goes my way, or else I might buy out whole stocks :P)


Eek. I wish I had a local shopping buddy :(.
