Liability for broken window

Who is held responsible if the a window breaks and falls to the ground? and the damages it caused? Landlord or tenant? Thank you in advance.

There was no intention to break the window, but landlord said I am liable for the window. However the window contractor inspected the rest of the windows and said they were all defective and hazardous.

If the landlord have home insurance then it will cover the damage caused to third party. As for the windows itself it will be an argument between you and the landlord unfortunately...
