Hi, there are quite a few choices in HK side but not so many in kln. There is one guy Joe Ng who works on Hillwood Rd in TST who is pretty good, speaks good english and has worked in some western salons with western clients over the years. I will try and find the name and number of his salon if you are interested.

Fully agree with Douglas

Why are people spamming ?

Can they just not play by the rules ?Why is it so difficult in a place like Hongkong to be able to just follow rules . Or are they just above everything and feel rules are not for them ?

Getting quite irritated with all the spamming going on all over the site ?

Im sure Im not the only one irritated !!!!!!!

Rules should apply to ALL

Ed why cant the rules be enforced more strongly ??????

Ladies, why do find ourselves here so many times and why do we find stylists promoting themselves so much. If you have to directly promote yourself here you need not be here. We have set parameters for this so many times I am blue in the face. Everyone but it seems one or two people get that and even the owners of this site concur in this matter.

Can anyone recommend a hairdresser that's more moderately priced PLEASE? After just ringing 4 of the few who where recommended on this thread and getting prices from 1250 to 1700 for a colour, cut and blowdry I'm beginning to despair. I need my roots colouring every 5 weeks and don't want to pay that much money.

I love my hairdresser. She's UK-trained and very experienced with Chinese and Western hair. Has her own shop in CWB: The Upper Room, Rm 2206 Workingview Commercial Building (tel: 2810-0550), www.aupperroom.com. Reasonably priced and flexible with her hours ... once, she even went to my friend's hotel room at the Marriott at 8 am to do her hair for an event! Great and super-patient with kids (a feat, especially with mine!)

Does anyone know a Joe Ng that has many years experience in Western type cuts and speaks good english. He used to be in Hillwood Rd. TST but is no longer there. I walked all of Hillwood Rd. but the closest I got was one person who had known him there but said he was gone to another place. That was about one year ago.

(I am based in the UK but travel often to HK and stay there for months at a time)

after trying 4 different hairdressers at paul gerard over the last 1 1/2 years and walking away disappointed everytime i feel compelled to write about just how incredibly mediocre to aweful the cutting services are at this salon. the last hair cut a few weeks ago i not only brought 2 pictures of the haircut styled in different ways and the written instructions on how to achieve the cut but it was a haircut that i had successfully had before several times after what i believed was thorough communication it was cut 2 short and didnt do at all what it was supossed to the hairdresser triec to cover up the fact that he had cut my hair to short by telling me he had to blow it straight to check it even though i speciffically said i dont wear it straight we had agreed on the length he would cut beforehand and he went well above that. i had to go back the next day to see if he could attempt to make it at all the haircut i was after he could not. I have had to go back after every haircut I have had there do to poor execution. the problem is that they do not listen or seem to care and skills are limited I will say that color and certain skin services i have there have been good but the cuts SUCK! if you are thinking i must be high maintenence you are right if high maintenence is knowing exactly what you wAnt and how to communicate it and knowing when you are not getting it. I think for 900 dollars a pop you should be leaving feeling great with the look you wanted i will never go back to that salon ever and i dont recommend it to anyone. I will skip the details of the hairdresser who cuts with his hand shaking I have given this place many chances

Gwildes1....He indicates on his site that he works on Afro hair, did you notice that in the 1 1/2 yrs you were going there? I am African American and I am moving to HK for a 3 month work assignment and I am looking for a hair salon. Your input would be appreicated.

Sounds like an uncomfortable experience but I am somewhat surprised since PG has a good reputation in HK and the stylists there i beleive are well trained. Sorry to hear about your experience.

The consultation is very important, even when you have a regular stylist time needs to be taken to understand the needs of each client. Before embarking on another try somewhere definately go for some consultations first, its free and a good way to judge if the stylist askes the right questions and is on the same wave length. Good thing hair always grows so hopefully you can get your desired look very soon.

Hi -Man

Please do not use The abbreviation PG, as people might mistake it for another salon with the same initials, not that we are any better than the other- maybe worse!

Thanks

Philip, yes sorry about that but I dont think in the context of conversations it would have been mistaken for the other but you have a good point. Paul Gerard was the topic of conversation apologies for any misunderstandings.

There is a great deal of SUPER advice here, but I am looking for someone very specific and I'm hoping one of you can help!

Does anyone know where JP is working now? He used to be at Ken Qi, but has long since left. He has come highly recommended, so would love to find him!

Many thanks!

Geradine Carey is a wonderful hairdresser for western type hair. She specializes in blondes but can do anything! She will come to your apartment or you can go to her. I have curly blond, frizzy hair (very difficult to cut right!) and she gave me the best hair cut I have ever had. I've now seen her twice! You can reach her at +852 9867 3153

I have western hair and was in desperate need of a trim and luckily I came across Ger (Geradine Carey) as well through a friend of a friend. I just had her cut my hair for the first time and I love it! She was so flexible on the scheduling and was kind enough to come over after work in the early evening to my apartment. I had never had this kind of service before but i thought it was great. She brought all of her own tools (blow dryer, straightener and styling tools) and it was a breeze. The clean-up was so easy and I didn't even have to go anywhere. She specializes in up-dos so I will definitely be calling on her for the next wedding I attend.

I do love going to Beijing Hair Culture in CWB to see TOM. He have a bit "stylist" personality which some people might not like, but his personality work great with me and i trusted his experience and skill. Every time I go, he would teach me easy ways to blow dry and never sell me any home care product unless I ask him.

Hi, does Geradine Carey have a website or price list at all? I have blonde highlights and really struggling to find someone over here to do them without them being completely wrong or charging a fortune. Thank you
