Does the tripp trapp actually have a tray? It costs $1500 for the
seat itself plus extras for the baby safety rail, cushion and then tray
- how much altogether? But then again, the Chicco ones are
selling for $2300 without discount.

I have been looking at this chair for ages, but I
have a Chicco at home. I saw a similar one at
Bumps to Babes selling for about $1200. I heard
Ikea has some cheap and good highchairs and I
might give that a go.

I just checked Ikea - they only have 1 highchair and it's not for
babies - AGAM - it is just a high stool.
Tripp Trapp does not have trays - I had misread the post, she
meant you can tuck it under the table, but if you are short of space,
you can't fold it either.

I'd probably agree that the design of the chair is better than most high
chairs. I put my 10 month old in a Chicco highchair and he just screamed.
He either didn't like the padding and felt enclosed or whatever. Then I put
him in those plastic booster chairs that you put on top of normal chairs,
and he didn't really complain at all. He was able to move and look around.
The only problem with that is our dining chair is quite light and he can
push himself backwards.

I agree with the others. My Chicco highchair which
is the same as the Peg Perego, is hard to clean.
The food gets stuck on the belts, the gaps and
everywhere. The plastic padded seat has split
and Chicco told me a new padded seat was
HK$800. So, our plan now is to get a cheap easy
to clean Ikea highchair for our second bay who is
9 months old that we can throw out once we've
done with it. By the way, that huge tray that comes
with the Chicco/Peg highchair is huge, we had
nowhere to put it when the chair was folded up.

If you are going to Ikea soon, can you let me know the price of their
highchairs? Thanks!

About 15-20 years ago, my aunt had four boys in five years. She wound up buying four Tripp Trapps over time, one for each child as he grew old enough. That's enough endorsement from me. I have two Pegs, one for each twin, but when they graduate from these, it'll be Tripp Trapp time.

Tripp Trapp costs $2150 including all the baby accessories
compared to Chicco which is selling at $1800-$2300. If you want
to use the chair longer, then Tripp Trapp is the go. However, a 3 yr
old will be able to sit on your regular dining chair anyway, so you
are only using the high chair for 3 years. If you have the space for
another extra chair when your child grows out of the high chair,
then I would go for the Tripp Trapp.
