Hi, we're considering moving to Tung Chung as my husband is a pilot & will be working at the airport (makes sense to live closeby) & have 2 boys (4 years old and 1 year old). We really like Coastal Skyline to rent however will check it all out when we come in a couple of months before the big move. We're coming from Australia.
I've tried to do some research on the area but mainly only get rentals or maps unless I type a specific topic.
Just a few questions:
How is the area to live in? Are there activities for children to do without having to travel too far?
How convenient/inconvenient is the place? What are the pros and cons of living there?
What is the noise like with the airport right there? And what about the air, is it worth purchasing an air purifier?
Also any suggestions on education closest to Tung Chung that speak english for our eldest son?
Thanks in advance for your time & comments.

not sure if you got my PM but here is some more info
I've tried to do some research on the area but mainly only get rentals or maps unless I type a specific topic. TRY centanet for your rental, Coastal is a great location so is Seaview. carribean coast. And Tung Chung Cres.
How is the area to live in? Great, there are many expats, meet one and you meet many.
Are there activities for children to do without having to travel too far? - yes Through the clubhouses and the community centre.
How convenient/inconvenient is the place? What are the pros and cons of living there? After 10 years we are thinking of moving back to NZ and my husband commute. Keep an open mind and make it what you want.
What is the noise like with the airport right there? And what about the air, is it worth purchasing an air purifier? - Lived in TC 10 years, the noise is fine. Air purifier is a must.
Also any suggestions on education closest to Tung Chung that speak english for our eldest son? Discovery mind at Seaview, Greenfields at Carribean Coast or Sunshine house at Tung Chung Cres. Or try and get your child into ESF at tsing for 2 terms for a chance to get into an ESF school otherwise you maybe stuck in having to accept an international school with high fees and debentures.
good luck with the move, Hong Kong great, it's expensive but you just have to make it the life you want it to be, expect low and if it exceeds that then great. PM me your email address, I have a hard copy of the Tung Chung magazine for this month if you want a copy. (I have the ask the editor first though) This magazine is great for information.

Tung Chung is nice, but coming from Oz, probably much nicer to live on south lantau - you can get a proper house, garden and get a car, etc. 3 mins walk from the beach. Only 25 mins to airport. Good schools on south lantau. PM if you want info on a great house for rent - 3 bedrooms, western kitchen, big garden. available now.
