Good morning.
I did the search and managed to find a few IDD sites in HK, but I am wondering if anyone knows of any for cheap calling to Canada, Australia and the UK.
I have checked out 1507, 1579, 1589, 1686. I was unable to find anything about 1666. I am currently using PCCW and while it is fairly cheap, I would like to know if there is something cheaper out there.

I use 0080 and it has 24 hr rates to many destinations like US, US or Oz. It was a promo till Dec 31 and is now a promo till Mar 31. Rate was 0.25/min to US. Recently took a cellphone with Smartone who have their 1638 service - offes 0.17c/min to US 24 hrs till Mar 31.
So, these things keep changing every quarter and its good to check 2/3. Or maybe create a thread in asiaxpat where users can update :)

Keith could you please describe a little more how that VoIP thing work? i would really be interested.. so as many people here i believe
let us all scam IDD companies :p they've long been trying to rort too much money out of poor overseas expats like us.. long distance calls is an a** sometimes because they are so damn expensive..

The contact number for IDD 1666 is 2926134 press 2 for English. They are CTI. I have found them very cheap but I can't say I've shopped around. THey dropped something in my mailbox one day not long after I got here and it seemed like a great deal. I've been happy with them.

Hi there - I wish the rates to my home country were as good as to most of your countries. My family lives in Slovakia. Any tips on great IDD deal to Eastern Europe?

If you're looking for really really cheap calls, you can use the internet. I use a program called 'Skype'- downloaded from the internet. PC to PC is free and you can call PC to phone for a really really cheap rate. You just put some $$ in an 'account' and use the system til is uses up your credit. I use it all the time and it is clearer than the phone line. I recommend you take a look...

TO COLLO: Who the hell would want to call Slovakia? Well, I would! I was born there, lived for last 8 years in Canada. My whole family still lives in Slovakia.
Thanks for a nice warm welcome to Hong Kong. And no, I would not be looking for a bride there - I am a woman. (Occasionally I think I should look there for a "groom", though. Especially when I encounter someone like you.)

Foth, Skippy, Mcgrada: Thanks.
I think it might be a good idea to go with a combination of both - use Skype when I have access to computer and a card other times. Thanks for the tip. Do you know where to get a good headset to be used with Skype?

Hi, I call Italy frequently and use both 1638 and 1511 but have found the quality to be terrible, half the time I can't get through and the other times we can't hear each other. So I've given up and reverted to 001 which costs the earth. I do not want to use a prepaid phone card but want to find another IDD provider where I just dial a different IDD access code. Does anyone on this site call Italy frequently and can recommend a reasonable provider? Many thanks...

Hi there, if you buy the Dragon phonecard (http://www.itdasia.net)from newspaper stand or mobile phone company (not the big one as 3, New World or Orange)and use the mobile phone to call, it's incredibly cheap.
