Hi, been noticing water condense and drip from the windows in the last 2 weeks or so. Was adviced to buy a dehudifier - but I read somewhere that one doesnt need it with the AC. Can someone tell me if this is true? Also, how do I run the AC when its already pretty cold?

Thanx, Kram

Just for info most dehumidifiers cost an arm and a leg: HK$3,000 plus but Fortress have an "own brand" model for HK$980. Still a bit steep but it does the job. If you want aircon in the winter simply jump in a taxi!! :-)

Question re. dehumidifiers, got one at the weekend due to damp/mould - how often do I need to run it and how much will it bump up my electric bill???

How long to run it? We normally run them on auto so when the humidity is okay only the fan runs while the room is dry, then the motor (??) kicks in when the humidity rises. The fan uses less electricty than the motor. You can hear the difference between the fan and the motor. When drying clothes in the bathroom or storage room, we use the laundry or high function. As far as the costs, don't really know but ours are a 16 litre/day size and are 260 watts. I guess then you can find out the charges per watt per hour and do the calculations.

How long also depends on where you live. We live near the sea and we get the sea fog so we need to run them (2 of them) longer, we also will empty the bucket twice a day if it runs for most of the day. Once summer starts you can use the aircons but while it is cool, the dehumidifier suits us.
