Is one better than the other?
And are there better shops in Happy Valley or Jardines Lookout?
Thanks

What did you have in mind when you say they are different in heavily expat from those in other areas? Quality or choice of items or price or everything?

I find the PNS in Stanely to be Fantastic for Hong Kong. It has much larger variety then other PNS,they also have their own bakery and deli. There is also a really good Wellcome in Repulse Bay, variety also good but not as good PNS. I hope the helps

I find wellcome better and cheaper for a lot of things including meat and fruit and veg. PNS is better for the luxury items, but is more expensive. Olivers, Taste and Great are very good but very expensive. I certainly can't afford to shop in them for more than a few items, I wish I could.

I happened to go thru the wet market yesterday and was most impressed to see how clean the meat counters were a far cry from what I remember over 20 years ago when I use dto live here. All the veg stores were also neat and tidy!
I wondered about a long queue in Causeway Bay which I thought was a medicine store then realised they were at a butcher ... frozen meat?

To lammum,
I nearly also buy the local chicken. I've tried the dutch chicken and find it has a really wierd texture and taste, and the american stuff is too expensive. I also often buy local veg and eggs ec much to my friends disgust, but when tou're spending $4 for a local cucumber compared to $20 for an imported one it soon adds up. I'll stick to my opinion that for me wellcome is better than pns for meat, I didn't say everyone had to agree with it.
