I took my mate to stanley on thursday to buy rugby shirts, but the shop that sells them was closed for renovation for a week, does anyone know when that week started?!!! She is desperate to get some (unofficial) shirts but her flight leaves tonight...just trying to decide whether it is worth nipping down? - or where else sells them?! Cheers.

It has been closed for a week for a long time! At lesat since I last visited in early Feb.
My guess is that it is closed up permanently as you would think they would have opened this week of all weeks.

Went down today to have a look and saw the guy who owns it... he says they are going to be open again on saturday (though the sign now says "closed until the end of the month"!!!).

spoek with him last week and he says they had a water leak so had to close. Thing is that the IRB really don;t like fake shirts so maybe someone had a word and 'suggested' that he close over the sevens. He will reopen at beg of April

I spoke to him on Sat am...he was gutted..showed me the damage/dampness from the burst water pipe...just v bad timing/luck...nothing to do with being asked to close down during the 7s week !!!

Try searching on ebay, they have the same shirts for about 8.00 sterling. If you order abunch, you may be able to get combined shipping costs.

All of the above thoughts having been going through my head to. I thought that perhaps the IRB had some political power. On the subject of the IRB and counterfeits, I actually saw two officials wearing beige shorts that are blatantly from this shop, because they said on them "Rugby Sevens 2005", nothing about HK or the RWC, and it was the same style as Stanley! You would think the officials would get given originals!
It was rather unfortunate timing to close down, the busiest week of the year, and probably one of the busier years for a few years to come!
