Can anyone recommend an non-prescription ointment for toddlers to help heal a heat rash and to minimize the itching. Our son has prickly heat rashes on his back from sweating and being in his damp t-shirt. Is there a non-prescription, natural type remedy that might do the job to get rid of it?

You could try a nice luke warm bath and calomine lotion to help reduce the itching.

Don't know if this will help, but my son's nappy rash was really bad and I applied zinc and castor oil cream, which worked wonders. It's not the same as heat rash though. Isn't there a powder available for prickly heat at the chemist?

You can try Egozite Baby cream by Ego, available from most pharmacies and places like Mannings. It seemed to work on my daughter's heat rash when she got v. sweaty and is not loaded with chemicals.

You can find the prickly heat powder at Mannings. It worked for my daughter who had the heat rash on her neck n back.

There are not lotions specifically for heat rash. Calamine lotion may soothe the itchiness of the rash. It is best to avoid the heat and for your child to wear cotton clothes. If the rash persists you should visit your doctor or baby clinic as the rash may be caused by something else..

24, I m now at work and cant remember the name of the powder right now. But you dont have to ask over the counter because it is displayed on the shelves and there is only one type. If it's not too late, I can get the name for you tomorrow but if you hv time, you can go n check on their shelves.

we tried many brands of cream inclding some expensive ones like "Jurlique" and "Kiehl's", but none of them work well. lastly, doc recommended the "Physiogel" cream, Singapore made, available for sale at Watsons. and it works perfectly fine since then.
u may try to apply the cream!

anyone know if these heat rash cremes/powders are safe on under-two-year-olds? my son is scratching his neck and scalp, but I don't want to put anything toxic on since he licks/sucks his hands every once in a while.
