As an ex student of FIS I can certainly say that it is a great school. The waiting list is often long however so you might want to check that out. It all depends on what you as parents want for your child as it is a very academic school. I tutor a child that is in the bilingual section and it has been great as she is now able to speak both french and english at a good level. Hope this helps if you need any information whatsoever just let me know.

Thank you. We have heard that it is a good place to consider. academic is fine as long as the kids still get a chance to express themselves. whats the sport and music like? facilities? any feedback is much appreciated as the waiting lists mean that we have to apply sight-unseen until i get the opportunity to loook at it at end of june.

Lammum..thank you for that....not good! Some friends of ours arrived out in HK in February and got their child into P1 immediately (though they had applied in November last year). Sounds as if its become more of a problem which is a worry as if they dont get into a decent school we aint coming! So I need to organise a debenture through the company? How positive an impact will that have? If what you are saying is accurate and I presume it is there are no schooling options for our 5 year old in HK as it stands! May have to be singapore then...

Thanks again. The plan is that I would begin work in November but that the family would not arrive until January so place for jan 06 would be required. I am out again in June and will physically visit some of the schools to see. The problem is that as there is a huge amount of organisation to do with work and personal, we cannot run the risk of it going wrong because of the schooling and may have to consider singapore instead. as you said its a transient place so hopefully something will come up. We lived out there for 6 years in the 90's but without kids so didnt have these issues to sort out! FIS does sound great though.

Here is my own experience with our boys' application to FIS, I applied for both my sons to FIS and within less than 2 weeks they asked my son for an interview and the younger was offered a place the coming september. My elder son was soon interview a month later and was also offered the place. I am very pleased with this and thank the Lord that HE has helped us. We are not on company debenture neither. I think there is an emphasies on the nationality , French is obviously highest , but I guess if you are non-hong kong citizen then there should be a good chance. Although like yourself I had heard extreme views of FIS, some very very good and some like the above very very bad reviews. So at the end of the day you have to visit the school , look at their results, see their website and make an balance judgement for yourself. Both my sons will start this september I hope both will enjoy it...
