We have recently viewed a villa in a complex of nine apartments. The complex has a communal swimming pool which isn't fenced. We love the villa but are very concerned about the lack of fencing around the pool, particularly as we have a very determined and curious toddler. Does anyone know if there are in regulations in HK regarding pool fencing? I have also thought that appealing to the owner of the complex (as a very worried mother) might work????

I have not seen fencing much around pools in HK. Sure, there's a fence around ours, but all you have to do is step over a low planter and you're in.
It will be extra work with the toddler if you move there, but as I see it toddlers need pretty constant supervision anyway.

Probably not unfortunately.

not sure what you mean by villa in an appartmernt complex, but a friend of mine used to live in a complex of houses with communal pool, access to the common parts through the gates of their tiny garden. All it took in their case was to child-proof THEIR gate and have a strong house rule with mum/dad/helper/friends that it was never to be left unlocked.
Her children aged 6 mo to 5 years never wandered off.
If you have your own private pool with direct access from your french windows/terrace/garden, I suggest you do the same if you can't get your landlord to fence the pool: fence the child in.
