Hi, has anyone managed to recover something that they had left in a taxi? If so how?

You are kidding!!! They offered to put a call out for me at a cost of $400! The thing I left was not worth that much! It was a birthday present all wrapped up etc. The annoying thing is he would have known it was us that would have left it!

If you've lost something of no value (e.g. a wallet with no money in it), you might get it back by offering a reward over the taxi broadcast line. If its a phone, cash or something that can be sold, 99% kiss it goodbye from my experience and what others have told me

I accidentally left my wallet in a taxi a couple of weeks ago. Don't know if the taxi driver or next passenger found it. They took the money and the wallet but pulled everything else out and dropped into the letter box at a police station. That at least saved me the hassle of replacing all my cards (although I had cancelled my credit cards of course).

I didn't have to pay to put a call out to all taxis though? I asked one of the doormen at a shopping centre for help and they put a call through. Then the doorman at our apartment also put a call through and neither of them mentioned any need for payment.

Like swmbo, I'd left my wallet in a cab one night which I only realised a full day later..went mad cancelling all my cards and calling lost and found (they speak very bad english by the way..) but refused to pay the 400hkd to page all cabs..

Then I got a call at work the next morning from the police station saying they had my wallet! cash was gone but had everything else in.... My advice - keep your business cards in there !!
