If all you want is an eye check up, maybe you should just go to an optometrist. Dr. Roberts is pretty expensive and has hardly any time for you. Better off seeing Dr. Gary Kots in Wanchai. For all the money that I spent on Dr. Roberts, all I got was overprescribed lenses!!!!

yeah, because of the difference in the health system, an eye doctor or OD in US is the same as the optometrist in Hong Kong. But the standard of the optometrists in Hong Kong varies. If you are looking for a place for a comprehensive eye check up, go to see an optometrist that can provide this kind of services, e.g, the one I go is Hong Kong Optometric Services in Central, or www.hkos.hk, they offer a comprehensive check up. I have been to other optical shops in HKG but they just check my power and then push me buy glasses, so, it is not a good place to check your eyes. But if you have other problems that you need to find an eye surgeon, you should find an ophthalmologist in HK instead of an optometrist.

yes, and if you need an ophthalmologist, you will need a reference note by the optometrist or general practitioner first (this is to make your insurance agents happy). If you need an ophthalmologist, I'd recommend Dr. Rupert Lee at the Union Hospital, it's a private hospital, so a little bit more cost, but very efficient, short wait time, and good service IMHO.
