Does anyone recommend a reputable eye doctor in HK who does LASIK? Do you know how much it is?

I had mine done at the Adventist last year. Cost was aroubd $19,000 and they allow you to pay by credit card in 12 instalments if you wish. Follow up appointmnets are in Central. Dr. Yiu was the guy wh0 I saw. This is simply the best thing I have ever done and well worth a day off to get it done.

Wow, I underwent the LASIK procedure last week at the Hong Kong Sanatorium with Dr. Walton Li and I am soooooo happy!
My eyesight has been corrected wonderfully and I don't need to wear lenses or glasses anymore.
The procedure takes about 1/2 hour and doesn't hurt at all. It does take a lot of nerves though as you have to keep you eyes open and you can watch all of it being done...

>bluesky: How long does it take before you can return to work? Say I get it done on a Friday and have the weekend to rest, will I be good as new by Monday? Also, how much does Dr Walton Li charge for this procedure? Thanks!

I had the procedure done on Fri afternoon, went home with eye shields and slept with them. The next morning I took them off and could see!!!
By Monday everything should be no problem, unless you encounter any complications.
It didn't hurt at all. Sometimes I still see a little blurry, however the op was only 5 days ago, so I assume the blurriness will clear, too.
Dr. Li is expensive: around 30,000HKD (both eyes, with Intralase flap cutting, opposed to blade flap cutting and incl. the doctor's surgery fee, but not the post-operation follow up fee). He is however the head of the HKSH and I believe one of the best doctor's for LASIK around. The other doctors working with him seem to be experienced, too, and cost around 5,000HKD less incl. the post surgical routine follow up visits.
Let me know, if you have any more questions.

hi bluesky
can i ask you... if you're a contact lens wearer normally, do you have to wear glasses for 2 - 4 weeks before the operation to avoid dry eyes?
thanks for your advice. :)

Yes, you have to wear glasses for 2 weeks before the op, so that the doctor can define the exact strength you will be needing. Also after the op you cannot wear any make-up...

I know from a friend that they seldom have LASIK case, his suggestion is to look for an doctor who have more experience on LASIK.
Good luck

Doctors who have done over 1000 procedures are considered experienced.

I do believe myobia and presbyopia can be fixed simultaneously, however it is always better to have a doctor check your specific case.

I have done it in 2003, no problem for me til me, I did it in the St. Paul Hosiptal, Dr. Lam Hok Suen <--(don't really sure the spelling of the dr. name). The price to do it in St. Paul Hosiptal (in causeway bay) is HK$16,000 for both eyes. And you need to pay extra HK$800 for the eye checking before doing the LASIK.
