Looking to change my hairdresser after many dissappointing attempts at highlighting my dark brown hair. Didn't think it would be difficult but I can't seem to get past hairdressers that give me what they think I need (usually a horrible shade of red meets copper) rather than what I want and makes the most of me.
Any recommendations for well tried and tested salons that are experienced in western hair for women would be very welcome.

Hi Harjeet,
I was recommended the Firm, by another asiaXpat user, and they did not dissapoint. The salon is friendly and well priced, and the stylist Robert did a great job with my blonde hair. They are located on the escalator just above hollywood road. telephone number is 25256696.

I have brown hair and have, on occassion, had highlights that have been lovely golden blonde shade that has made my hair look like it's been highlighted by the sun ... this is how I've explained to my stylist what I want it to look like ... I didn't want any obvious 'streaks' and certainly no red/copper shades! I haven't been disapponted. I use Lauren at the The Colour Bar, in Central, tel: 2525 4229.

Hi
If you have suffered a reddish/copper result, it sounds like your hair is naturally quite dark and the hairdresser is trying to lift the shade by applying colour. Your hair needs to be carefully pre lightened by using professional bleach first , before the required tone is applied. The bleach should not be removed before all the red tones have been removed. Always make sure you have a full consultation before you try a new stylist, and let them explain the process and what can or cannot be achieved.

I've been to Philip George salon and yes it is very nice. They always do a consultation prior to coloring. It was my first time I liked the coloring part. Although I have to say I still didn't get proper guidance on styling my hairs as I have got wavy hairs. So will have to visit them again I suppose, bit expensive option.

Hi Julia & Sapphire,
I also have brown hair which has been perfectly highlighted in the UK, however the roots need doing and I dread going to hairdressers here as to many times I've paid up to $HK3000 and ended up orange. Could you both let me know how much you paid here, if possible by pm.
Thanks in advance.
