I keep seeing flats with terraces/balconies that have used bamboo for their surround and figured 1) it looked nice 2) made of natural fibre 3) being close to china would make bamboo an easy option. Not so it would seem. We need about the same amount - would it be worth negotiating an order. Only thing is i'm not sure I need it to be 6' high - more likely closer to 5'.

I saw something similar in horizon plaza just last week, but can't remember which floor. It was a fairly small company selling 6ft bamboo rolls held together with wire and they were selling it in 3ft wide pieces. Just for the record, they had a small amount of outdoor furniture (much cheaper than the larger operations), but mainly sold wooden decking and garden fence panels. It was on the same floor as other garden/outdoor specialists. Sorry I couldn't be clearer!

I saw the stuff in Patio Mart at Horizon Plaza - either 1M or 2M high. It was quite thin bamboo, it isn't treated as nothing has been proved to help protect it and he said it would last 2-3 years.

A local man made a bamboo fence around my balcony, its at least 6ft high and he had no problem with getting hold of the materials. I think it took a week from looking at my balcony prepairing the materials and installation. pm me if you want his details...
