Car accident in parking lot

I have L plates on my motorcycle. Skidded in the parking lot and took the grill off a parked car. Do traffic laws apply on a parking lot? Do I need to contact a lawyer to get legal advice or just go ahead and claim my insurance?

You can settle with the car owner with out having to report to Police unless you were injured then you need to report it

Traffic laws to apply to a parking lot. The Road Traffic Ordinance in Hong Kong applies and according to the Road Traffic Ordinance in Hong Kong, a road includes:

“…. Car park…to which the public have access either continuously or intermittently, whether or not the same is the property of the Government.

Your insurance company should cover (a minimum) third (3rd) party damage to the other vehicle, with regards to your own vehicle, you will need to check with the insurance company to see whether the policy covers damage to your own vehicle and whether they will be willing to pay out. You may be asked by your insurance company to produce a police report which may encourage a charge of careless driving being levied against you by the police.

You don't need a lawyer!!!!! If it was a 'simple' car accident then you can either deal with it privately (without the police being involved and you paying the other driver for car damage). Or if police involved then they will give you both 14 days to decide on what you guys want to do (deal direct with each other or via insurance company).

Even if it goes to court you don't need a lawyer. These people that adversely advertise their companies really hack me off!
