Has anybody imported a boat to HK? Are these duties/taxes payable to the HK govt?

I assume that there are registration procedures, but anything else that I should know about?

was much cheaper here a few years ago. Seems that when the economy picks up the prices of yachts go sky high. An example. I could have bought a lovely First 34.7 (2nd hand) 2 years ago for HK$120k. same boat (2 years older) is now worth more than double that in HK. Suggest you keep an eye out at the RHKYC etc, but not a great deal of suppy here, so maybe best looking O/S as well. Good luck

There seems to be a shortage of good used boats of around 3-7 years old. Most second hand boats are either from the eighties or nineties, or you have to buy new. Might be a sign of the depressed economy at the time.

Am investigating a good family power boat around 22-25ft with a cabin and pref outboard. In the US, you can pick these up for around HK$160-200k. Plus shipping. Also seems better condition.

Thoughts?
