Hey gave this hkgfm.net a try...hooray!

That's great, thanks for the suggestion! One still has to wonder why this "World City" still doesn't have a decent English radio station on FM. If Bangkok, Taipei, Mumbai etc. can, surely we could too??

I wonder why on earth we don't have many magazines and an FM station also. Singapore is loaded with them.

It's strange.

Is this a proper radio station on a frequency or an internet web radio station? kiwiozzie - if you are looking for web based radio stations - lots of the NZ and Aust radio stations stream through the internet.

Real deal internet web station i guess - I have been listening to HKGFM for a few weeks and it's great! I was listening to my favourites from back home in Oz but I just want the music without all the chat.

Internet radio is so important to us here at home. It's a good way to "keep up" since English news is so limited here.

Hi banmenot, This is all about the music, HKGFM is just that - Music, no DJ's spouting about how nice the day is, or where the promo car will be to get your latest givaway 2000 miles from where I currently live - it just good music. I 'fire it up' then surf the net for the stuff im interested in, I get the latest news on the area's that interest me. Not all the other rubbish. I think MLC was just trying to say, check it out, you might just like it. I did.... and I think it rocks.

As I mentioned earlier the 80's channel on HKGFM.net has been great and we have had loads of laughs and several singing sessions - and it was all in the office today. I hope Banmenot you get a kick out the 80's stuff as much as I do!

Am I the last to know? Got all excited to tell some workmates after reading about it on here, and they all know already! Apparently they have heard it on at the keg in LKF - Anyone else know about this???...Listening to the 80's was fun, embarrassing and a good laugh all at once, tried the classic rock channel as well...very cool.

Well another big night out and called into the Keg, honkytown FM was been played there...nice! But not my 80's station, they do the classic rock there.

Mrssmith, you got me on a good night cause i'm not too far gone, but News - last I checked you could get it in any taxi in town and hear it every half hour = Over it (or try the billion or so websites that specialize in news)

...Weather - thats what windows are for?

...Local Content - what do want to hear "and this morning in Queens Rd a record 15 taxis were non-stop on their horns because some poor old guy had fallen over and they were upset cause he was holding up traffic"...

Ummm ok...next track please this 80's is rockin' woo-hoo, bring on the music...its a great soundtrack while surfing the net for me...

Hang on..edit time...taxes? honkytownfm is FREE!

mrsmith in the past few weeks I have become a daily fan of HKGFM and I love the fact it is all about the music as it says 'Your music Universe'. We got back from Lang Kwai Fong on the Weekend and the party continued....I think some news in-between that music may have changed the mood a little...don't you?

Why not support something local 'HKGFM.net' is Hong Kong's free internet radio...Pandora's is not! I guess this is what it's all about I also had trouble with the Top 40 in OZ they were happy to let me register but listen/get involved NO. Your right Berry...No News - just music..love it!

all said and done... i still find this a cute sight on my morning walks along the river joining the sea ....

a gnarled tree... a little bird cage with half a curtain... bird singing sweet notes... interrupted by some raucous canto music and a wizened old gentlemen graciously performing tai chi. a little further down the walk... a tai tai with a transistor strapped into her fanny pack... swaying and walking to the music.....

so the transistor still stays around with some of the old world people...

Not local, but if you want a huge laugh then tune into www.95.8fm and listen to Jonny Vaughan 1pm-4pm HK time, just hilarious and great music too. IMHO!

I don't think there is a frequency it is purely internet radio...but don't quote me. I know nothing about radio - I am just guessing. I am sure if you email HongKongFM they will get back to you.

There is no frequency, you are correct.

I've started using radioblogclub.com It isn't perfect but I can search for songs I like and just recycle through those. Kind of like being my own Dj.
