Try and talk to the person who's responsible for getting rid of trash in your building, they surely know how to get rid of unwanted furnitures. Sometimes you can pay them some money (negotiate with them) and they could do it for you.

When we moved into our flat, the landlord left some old pieces of furniture that we also couldn't use. When we bought wardrobe sets from IKEA, saw a notice that they can also take away your old furniture for something like $60-70 per piece (say a wall unit). If you're getting a few items at IKEA, ask their customer service rep. Hope this helps.
