It's an easy walk - elevation gain is less than 150 metres and time less than two hours, even if you dawdle. The path is good but you won't find the way without a map, as there is a network of mostly unsignposted paths. You need the countryside series map entitled "Sai Kung and Clear Water Bay". You can buy it either in a decent bookstore or online at the Gov't bookstore:

Just remember the mobile coverage out there is pretty slim - take a walkie talkie for emergencies - there is a channel which is constantly being monitored for emergency calls - channel 9

Perhaps we worry about the wrong things. And one does not need to be particularly cynical about big business in HK to guess the reason for the massively disproportionate hype over the tiny number of attacks in country parks.
Number of violent crimes INSIDE country parks in HK each year: about 40.
To put this into perspective:
Number of violent crimes OUTSIDE country parks in HK each year: more than 13,000.

Number of road traffic casualties in HK each year: more than 18,000.

Number of smoking-related hospitalisations in HK each year: 34,000
Just my little bugbear!

Did I mention anything about being attacked?
My thoughts were firstly for one being lost and not knowing the way in unfamiliar territory, (which had been mentioned in a previous post) and secondly if one is to fall and hurt oneself, or twist ankles etc - it would seem that you, excited, are over excited about attacks in the country parks - it had never even crossed my mind until you mentioned it.
Most people do come out alive, but some , especially in Sai Kung west CP have not - a local policeman died in there when he lost his way not so long ago - the walkie talkie is just precautionary and sensible.
Have a great walk.

I'm curious about how that poor policeman "lost his way" and died. I've googled, but can't see the story.... there are streams (fresh water) and fruit trees everywhere in SK's parks: surely it would take weeks to die there (unless you tripped over a cobra!). And why didn't he just walk up to higher ground to use his cell phone - or even to be easily spotted by any of the countless noisy sightseeing helicopters that disturb our tranquillity in the country parks?
Sorry, OP - we're off topic!

" ■ Hong Kong
Police search for officer
More than 300 police officers were scouring one of Hong Kong's rural country parks yesterday for a missing police officer, three days after he made a desperate call for help. Constable Ting Li-wah, 45, was off duty and hiking alone in a remote area of Sai Kung Country Park when he dialed the emergency services apparently suffering from heatstroke or exhaustion. His last words in an incoherent, seven-minute call on Sunday were "help, help, help" before the line went dead, police say, sparking fears he may have lost consciousness."

It would seem he was hiking alone..big error in the first place.
