With all the violence and financial crisis in the states. Will you every consider moving back there? I am a mom of 2 young kids so I'm a bit worried about their safety.

Obviously HK is great place ( jobs, low income tax, safe, the healthcare is free, education is very good ) that's why there are lots of expats here that consider this place their home. But there is something missing here. I would like to hear your thoughts esp if you are from the states...Do you ever miss the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas etc.

Maybe I'm just homesick.

Thanks,

No.

For many economic and political reasons that country has been on the downslide for generations. Because the government can no longer finance itself, the decline will accelerate to a pace not seen before. That country is going to be excessively poor, the lazy and entitled people are going to become rapacious with their use of government to steal from those who do work. The public education system has been a disaster for decades, healthcare price is on the permanent rise thanks to heavy government regulation, the country is devolving into a police state, and general quality of life will get much much worse.

The America that you and I grew up in no longer exists. It is time to realize that it can never go back to the good old days - we need to move on to better places and accept that the past is gone.

I've been gone for four years and do not miss it at all. Whenever I return to visit family and friends it feels like I never left - they live in same place, doing same thing, talking about the same petty popular news (celebrity, fiscal cliff, etc).

In comparison Hong Kong has a free market, great social liberties, a civilized honest and hard working populace, top quality public and private healthcare and education, convenient travel across southeast Asia, beautiful scenery, and all of the conveniences of a modern infrastructure. To me it surpasses the USA in all factors that determine the quality of my living.

As for the holidays, it is not where you are that matters but who you are with and what you do. For four years now I've celebrated thanksgiving and Christmas in Asia just as I normally would have done in the US and I feel there is no difference - its just as fun. Besides, HK decorates itself very well for Christmas and does not need to worry about absurd political correctness of saying Merry Christmas.

In summary, I strongly believe that the US quality life is on a steep and permanent decline. No interest in living there.

I do not have kids, so I am here.

If I do have kids, I wish them grow up in US with a bigger and better environment and better air quality.

People's mindset is different when growing up here.

I'd go back for kids.
