Hi guys,
Just wondering the best way to deal with this under HK law.
My credit card was stolen (well, lost or stolen, not sure which) and about $25k HKD has been racked up across a whole heap of shops in HK.
I've reported it lost and filed for chargebacks on all the fraudulent charges, I'm not sure how many of these will actually be refunded though.
I want to catch the person responsible, and considering I have a long list of about 20 transactions with time/date stamps, and most of them are large stores (Zara, Sasa, etc) I'm guessing most of them have cameras.
I suspect, after going through the list, that a female domestic helper is responsible. This is because the first charge occurred near my home in Po Lam (I probably dropped the card somewhere) and the locals in this area are shall I say, not financially motivated to commit fraud. Also it was also used in some filipino bars in Wanchai (Neptune etc). My question is really, will the police even bat an eyelid at this if I present them with a list of times/dates/locations?
Thanks!

I believe that if you report the card stolen/lost within one month the card company will cover the charges... I suspect they must have some sort of insurance coverage for this....
