Nobody even comes close to beating or matching Dell's prices. Go with them, and stick with them.

Dell has the best prices in Hong Kong? Their HK prices are approximately 20-40% higher than their site in the USA.

Thanks for the reply, I checked dell. In hong kong it seems to be the cheaper option but it surprises me that most computers are more expensive here than online in the US.

I also ordered a couple of Dells online. Very good. They dont ship from the USA, I think they ship from China, so how can they be more expensive than in the USA? What is the justification?

I don't get it either. I think I see an undercutting opportunity for the right importer...

Lots of Electronics and especially computer products are more expensive then in US. Look at Plasma for example; was double the price in HK for same models for a few years.

You also have to consider warranty and service. Not saying its better to buy from them but there is difference and market here is smaller. (i bought a Panasonic Plasma, paralell imported from Japan = very cheap. It did however need parts replaced after 3 years and Panasonic agent would only do it for a ridiculous price, so i ended fixing it myself in a local Chinese shop but it was more hazzle although cheap).

NOTE; when buying from Dell, you have to hold off untill the discount is right. They rotate the actual discounts on products; for example 2000 HKD off this week, then next week 1800, third week 1600 off and so on.

Look regularly and you get feeling for it and what the best discount is. As the product gets older or more mainstream the discount will also be raised (instead of lowering the price they usually work like this).

It is also popular with various coupons in US that you can use but not sure if it is popular here in HK as well. Sign up to be notified when they offers (on email).

One difference is in the extra fees that get loaded on at the end.....last time I looked into buying a computer online in the USA, there was a delivery fee of about $25 or $30 USD that was added on at the end. In HK, I think the delivery is included in the cost.
