Hey there

Exepcting my first baby in 7/8 weeks time and will probably not breastfeed.I have to decide which formula to use and it seems most parents use Enfamil or Similac but I've also seen Hipp (Organic) which however is only avaible at babes & bumps and not in every supermarket.

Keen to get your experience!!!Thanks!

i have been breastfeeding so far, but i hv looked into formulas should i need to give my baby some while i am on holiday and unable to pump breastmilk (not bringing pump) just so you know Enfamil has been recalled in Korea and the US but apparently the HK company said it has not affected them. also bear in mind that some formulas are more sweet then others. we have some wyeth S26 formula and i tried a bit myself and it's very very sweet.

i don't have much experience to share but just thought i'd pass on that info for you in case it would help.

I was quite shocked to read about a recall on Enfamil..... but it's Enfamil Gentlease/Lipil (the one available in Citisuper).... nothing on Enfamil A+.... which is really popular in HK and Canada.

However, now I have concerns and doubts about staying with Enfamil.....should I switch? If so to what? my daughter was on Pediasure (she's underweight), that's really really sweet. I just switched her to wyeth, at first she won't drink it b/c it's not sweet at all.... compared to Pediasure. Now, I am wondering if I should switch to S-26... but a lot of people say S-26 is quite fattening for newborns......

Here we go...sounds now all more complicated than ever. I also spoke to the head midwife at Matilda and she said Enfamil or S-26 are the best or most common in HK. I tried doing some Internet research but that again is a never ending project. I am not keen on fattening ones neither on too sweet.I will check Hipp Organic for its ingredients again.

If you here anything else, well please let me know.

I bought APTAMIL by Milupa......it's a German brand and even myself was fed with Milupa more than 30 years ago..........it's by far not as sweet as Enfamil which they used the first week I was still in the hospital- once I got home with my baby I switched right away.......you can buy Aptamil in every supermarket and drugstore (Mannings), but it's usually on the bottom shelf as it's obviously not that well-known here......

Ah that is is great news, I guess I will go with Enfamil and if we go away I simply take enough supply with me. Thanks a lot for your great advice and all the best for your little one - boy or girl? Where you happy with Matilda?

Have a nice day!

A how nice to hear and yes I felt like that when I visited Matilda and their team last week. Only 7 or 8 weeks to go now for me and I am really looking forward to the entire experience. I will take your advice on board and am sure that after a while we settle in as new family.

Lovely talking to you, maybe we can meet one day!
