Scam - "Lucky Man"

ORIGINAL POST

There have been a couple of guys hanging around outside the Ritz in Central going up to strangers saying "I am a lucky man". This is without a scam - does anyone know what their game is? I don't really want to ask them...

I always reply "If I was lucky you would have picked somebody else"

So what is the scam exactly? How do they get the point where they start to ask for money? Or is it a distraction so they lift your wallet? Never seen these guys before

Are these people indonesian by any chance? I know some of those people are into black magic and weird stuff like that... I know someone who had an indonesian housekeeper, and she had weird voodoo things all over the place, like little piles of dirt under their bed and crap like that.. Kinda scary actually

Most of these guys are from the Indian subcontinent not Indonesian. Indonesia, especially Java, is very much into 'magik' ie traditional swords (kris) to protect the home, love potions, little naked men (gnomes) who steal for their owners, spoons 'shot' into your stomach by enemies etc etc. My son got ill & my Indonesian wife blamed a tree in the backyard so we had a dukan (magic man) write something on paper & wrap it around stones then we burnt it underneath the tree. I asked how come then a few Dutch could take over the whole country if they had such powerful magik? And very convenient to blame a gnome when the husband explains to the wife money is 'missing'. But there again I have seen strange behavior (hypnotism?) at traditional dances in villages & other strange things...

One of these guys hit on me with ' you have a lucky face' and i politely said not interested, anyway a coupleof day later he did the same thing and i replied 'obviously not, as you tried the same line two days ago and yet you try again'.

I got to the point where the lucky guy showed me a picture of him with a lot of little children and asked me to give him money to feed his "family". Said something like "You know, you can give me as little as you want, 300, 400, 500$ is all ok". When I told him to get lost get turned quite aggressive, but finally he left.
