My kids have picked up head lice at school. I have shampooed them but now need a "lice comb" to get all the critters out. There was a cheap one that came with the shampoo but I was hoping to find one that actually works. Does anyone know where to buy one?
Thanks!

Don't bother with the lice comb, they are useless. My daughter had them for about 6 months and they constantly kept returning. You litterally need to go through your childrens hair and section it. You will need to pull the eggs out with your nails as they stick to the hair shaft. If the eggs are not out they will just keep on hatching and the cycle never stops. The comb will only get out any live ones. You will also need to get some proper lice treatment, there are some natural ones you can get from Watsons, go to the bigger ones like Pacific Place, or Mannings. This will have to be repeated 7 days later but if the source at school is not being treated it will just keep spreading.
Good luck, I know exactly what your going through

Once you manage to sort this out I would suggest getting one of those spray bottles, fill it with water, add a little conditioner and a few drops of tea tree oil. Give a few sprays before your child heads off to school in the morning, you shouldn't have a problem again, good luck.

OP,
Just to be clear, the comb is not for "getting the little critters out"; rather, it is to remove their eggs. The medicated shampoo should kill the lice themselves (but obviously has no effect on the eggs).

Anybody can catch lice and I don't think it's the parents fault.

Once you have managed to get rid of head lice there are a few things I do to help them stay away.
Firstly lice like nice clean hair so I never wash my daughters hair every day
Secondly always put a spray of hair spray on the hair every day and that keeps them away as well.
Linda - I think it is the parents responsibility to make sure that their children are not re affecting the rest of the class.

You can buy lice combs from Watsons or Mannings (ask the pharmacist), but from personal experience, these are brutal on the scalp and hair, literally ripping it out in chunks.
I'd advise going to a pet supplies store and buying a flea comb — sounds weird and possibly gross, but it works, it's gentle on the hair, it gets every last live louse and nit and debris out of the hair and scalp, and doesn't hurt!
