Latex primer and mold-resistant (aka "anti-microbial") emulsion solved it for us.

Mould has roots so you need to do more than a wipe down to tackle the problem.
My suggestion is to use diluted bleach mixture in a spray bottle and a scrubbing brush. Leave for 15 minutes and then rinse with water. Allow to dry overnight and then follow up with Burgundy's advice with the mould-resistant paint.
Wear protective gear when scrubbing as the mould spores can get into your lungs. Wear a face mask (N95 of course), industrial rubber gloves and safety goggles.

Quick question for all - does the mould still come back if you use a dehumidifier in your flat? I was told that this would help, so I am just curious if dehumidifiers are useless against mold.
Also, from a "prevention" perspective, I would suggest against opening your windows to the sea breeze too often. Correct me if this is scientifically wrong, but I think you are allowing more humid air to enter your flat. Then, when you use air conditioning, you have changes in temperature that could result in small amounts of condensation inside, which could then lead to mould. It's probably not too pleasant to keep the windows closed all of the time, but I would say that it might help the humidity and the mould.

Our apartment has a bad mold problem and have had apartment painted twice with mold resistent paint over the past 8 years it cost over 20k to pain t so I have given up painting and cleaning the walls. I just live with the ugly mold on the bathroom and living room. Can someone tell me is this dangerous for our health to have the mold left on the walls? Can I hire someone just to come and clean the walls for mold? Can you buy some kind of appliance that helps, does an air cleaner help? Sorry for all the questions, just thought someone out there might know! I have 3 dehumidifiers in my apartment and they fill up everyday.

Nice view of the airport, WDRL?

Marykey> Humidity below 60 percent (ideally 50%)is required so get a digital hygrometer to check your rooms. I mentioned on another "mouldy" thread about Scotchgard's Mold & Mildew Block (for hard surfaces). It could be worth trying after the walls have been scrubbed with bleach and painted.
WDRL> Have a friend who will be moving out your way soon. She's going to get the place painted with the mould-resistant stuff first. Did you paint?

WDRL> Think my friend is getting quotes. What would you charge for painting the walls of a three-bed flat out there with mould-resistant paint and, I'm guessing, also colour-matching gloss on the doors to reduce the whiter-than-white effect?
Send me an AX mail to pass on.

Foolonahill>Southside of the island is generally more humid. Had a friend who lived there in a building with sealed windows and central air-con. Even with dehumdifiers going nonstop, the air in her flat always felt a bit damp.
After doing all the above, spray with the Scotchgard Mold Block.

Our flat has relatively new paint, and very recently, I have noticed mold on the walls--mostly in the corners and only in the master's BR. Is it safe to spray and brush with bleach solution to kill mold without damaging the paint?
Is Lysol a better option? Don't want to spend on paint & labor if landlord will not shoulder costs..

We moved into a 1.5 year old flat, slightly dusty mouldy ceiling. I simply cleaned the ceilings with water with a good few drops of tea tree oil in it. No mould anymore!
