Anyone here done it? Other than having to pass emission standards for your state, and getting special dispensation to have a RH drive car, what other hoops are there to jump through? With the great price of used cars here, I'm thinking of picking one up and sending it home. I was told something about having to own it here for a certain amount of time...? Anything else to know?

Where do you live? Cars, used or new, are generally much cheaper in the US than HK. (HK car tax is 60 - 100%!) I find the cars here ridiculously expensive compared to back home, and I came from California.
Other than a handful of exotics, I have never seen a RH drive car in the US. You will have a difficult time at toll boths.

The cost of shipping and the hassle with customs duties and conversion costs will make it not worthwhile. If you are moving back to the US, you should contact International Autosource (www.intlauto.com) because they source new cars at great rates for people moving to US. The service and rates are not available to people already in the US. Give it a try!
