I am sure that there is someone with better knowledge of Shanghai than I, but here goes ...
I started a thread a couple of weeks ago about where to find baby clothes in Shanghai, as we were there for a few days, so it may pay to do a search on that as I got a couple of replies.
We were in the same situation ie husband there for work, but as we live out of Harbin, it was more like going to civilisation for us (probably the reverse for you, being in Hong Kong!).
We have a three-wheeled jogger (roads are shocking where we live) and found OK to get round Shanghai so long as you aren't phased by the usual chinese situation of narrow streets, crowds, taking prams etc up escalators and traffic.
We went for walks along the Bund (just watch for the beggars), took the tunnel ride under the river both ways (fine for strollers just need to lift it over the barriers), did Nanjing Road etc.
Sorry can't be much help! (Big thrill for us was being able to visit Starbucks, so different situation)

Main problem in mainland China is that everyone wants to touch a foreign baby - drives me insane up here (live in a town of 300,000 and they have never seen a foreign baby) and we don't allow it as don't believe it's healthy for our son (mentally as well as germ wise). Beijing is better and Shanghai is even better as people are used to foreigners more. To cut a long story short - there are little to no places to change nappies let alone breastfeed so we tend to head to the major hotels and use their toilets for nappy changes (cleaner and more private otherwise you get a crowd gathering round and I'm not keen on putting my son on display).
Other thing I forgot to add - we went on a river cruise for an hour which was a big rip off and a major hassle. Better just to take the ferry to Pudong or vice versa. It was a stinking hot day and we thought we were leaving from the Bund but they loaded us onto a bus, stopped to pick up even more people so it was the usual standing in the aisles routine and drove 15 minutes down the road, only to come up and back down the river over the same territory. We ended up taking a taxi back to the Bund rather go on a crowded bus with no aircon (could have just been the boat company that we picked!).

Hi ! In Shanghai with a 10 months old boy... Avoid the Bund and Nanjing area and try the large and peaceful parks. It is really friendly and people are too busy doing their tai-chi that they forgot there is a foreign baby just next to them..!
For places to eat, try Blue Frog, Element Fresh (nice, not smoky and with a babychair), 239 (more expensive). I Hope it helps.

There is a huge cover market at the cross between PuAn and Jinling. You will find everything : clothes, toys... It's near People's Square and it is very cheap. You have to take the stairs, the market is "underground". I also find clothes not so expensive in the malls. In Xujiahui and Jing An, the best brand is "Les Enfants". They also do stuff for babies like pacifier, saline spray, etc. Have a nice stay !

Plenty of Starbucks in Shanghai. I can't imagine you would have any problems BF there. Bigger issue is finding a darn seat. Those places are always packed.
