I don't know if there is such a thing as the 'best' place but we bought ours at Vin's Motors in Tin Hau - we saw the car we wanted in their advertisement on the SCMP and went to look the same day. They made the purchase very easy and we love the car. Check out their ads online and in the SCMP.

Thanks for your suggestion dkchick.

God, got your elaborate advice; certainly helps a lot! Right now, I'm still in the research stage as I know nothing about buying a used car in HK and don't wanna get ripped off...should I finance/lease the car through the dealer or should I go thru a third party?

Having read all the threads about how people get ripped off in HK buying second hand cars through dodgy second hand car dealers, I decided to buy the car through the licensed car dealers, (i.e. Merc, BMW, Volvo etc). I ended up getting a 6 months old "Management Car" with low mileage for roughly 30 to 35 % off the retail price. Sure, you can get better deals, but at least I have the peace of mind that no-one played with the odometer etc. My recomendation would be to call the dealerships and see what they can offer you.

Cheers and good luck. Driving in HK is definitley fun!

WOW! You guys are so helpful! God, got your PM again, thanks!...to all of you!

Buying a car sounds so complicated...I was lucky when I got my cars in Canada cuz someone took care of all the nitty gritty for me. I'll drop down all the points adviced by you guys and form a checklist. Hope I won't get intimidated by the process. If so, I'll bug you guys again!

camera_enthusiast, I think "car_enthusiast" would be more appropriate. LOL!
