This may sound wierd, but does anyone know where I can find egg roll wrappers here in Shanghai? City Market does not have them, and I can't remember seeing them anywhere in town.

Egg roll biscuits, we have here in China, good ones can be found in Macau.
Egg-roll wrapper, my version is like those wafer thin pancake-like made of eggs, milk and some flour.
It needs fast action, ready spatula or hands for turning, use round non-stick frying pan. Layer in damp kitchen towel until ready for using.
Lightly cooked vegs(stir-frying is best with scant soy sauce and sesame oil), garlic, onion, mushroom, bean sprouts, Chinese cabbage, carrots(all thinly sliced) with some stalks of spring onion, meat and shrimp. Last two optional.
Roll together, it should look like Vietnamese spring roll when done. Cut into bite-size.
Sauce, bottled sweet chilli sauce we can buy everywhere.
Otherwise, peeled apples cooked in sugar(I use muscovado or any brown sugar) and cinnamon, put very little water to prevent sugar from burning.
Serve with vanilla ice-cream on the side.

Yes, I mean very thin light square egg dough. Used for making what we call in the states "egg rolls" Does that mean I want spring roll wrappers? Where can they be found in Shanghai?
Thanks again,

I'll answer this one as the other thread disappeared when I was responding...
Most supermarkets will have them and they will be in the Chilled/Frozen section.
If you go to the Wellcome (Hong Kong) website and search for "spring roll shell", an image of one brand (Doll) will come up. Blow it up, print it out and take it to the shop.

Carrefour has a variety of fresh noodles and wrappers - though they may be dumpling wrappers? At the Gubei store they are located near the counter that sells pre-made foods - pizza, fried rice, dumplings, etc. The noodles are great - very cheap and I use them with pesto, spaghetti, alfredo sauces.
