I use the yeo valley when the shop has it, when they don't he gets Dairy Farm! The most important point is NO SUGAR, Full Fat and live cultures.

Our baby LOVES LOVES yogurt - it is the ultimate baby food for parents, no preparation!

Sombe books say 6 months, others 7 or 8. We started at 7.

We started off just mixing a bit in with the fruit/breast milk/oatmeal in the morning, but it has turned into the biggest hit. If he finishes any meal, we offer him just plain yogurt for dessert and he gobbles it up. Quite amazing. We were going through 500 grams a week, now we are up to about 750 a week ( 1 1/2 large tubs!)

'Baby yogurt' comes in smaller containers and has sugar. It is marketing, that's all!

Use normal yogurt, all natural, full fat, no sugar - like yeo valley plain or stoneyfields or even dairy farm.

Even better if you like it too, so if baby does not, then you can eat it :)

so crj you use just use normal adult ones? because there is an organic shop near me and they sell an aussie brand of organic natural/plain yogurt for bubs. it'll definitely take more than one meal to finish it BUT the instructions say leftovers must be discarded, which then makes it really expensive! how long do you keep the yogurt tub for?

I keep a 500gram adult yogurt tub for a week.

I use one spoon in that tub, to transfer to baby's bowl.

I use another spoon to feed baby.

Similar to the way I would eat the yogurt?

Yogurt is yogurt - as long as it is full fat, live cultures and has no sugar or additives.

Hope that helps.

Personally I think 'baby yogurt' is a marketing rip off!

Not all plain yorgurts taste equally good though, some are quite sour...the yeo valley one is particually delicious.

Ellie - ha ha!

Did your baby like it?

He eats Yeo Valley (5 star) and Dairy Farm (cheap!) with the same gusto...
