claim foreign tax credit for US citizen?

Hi there,

Can I claim foreign tax credit( form 1116) on the salaries tax paid to HK on my 1040 tax return?

If so, since the HK tax calendar ending on 3/31, how do I figure out the tax paid?

I attach a copy to my 1040 for the filing year. IRS has not challenged the practice.
