Hi,
I live in Lam Tin not really that close to Hang Hau but I know the area from my own flat hunting experience. I personally like Oscar by the Sea and Ocean Shore (great club house for kids) quite a lot.
I am not sure if there is an English playgroup nearby. My daughter is 19 months + and we take her to baby buddies in Tin Hau. There is a little boy from TKO in the same group. Travelling to Tin Hau would take about 20 mins and you do have to change once which is very easy.
I would love to join you for coffee and cake if you move to this area. I am working full time though.

Hi Mummybee,
I live in Clearwater Bay, and we're $15 taxi away from Hang Hau. So if you move here, love to get together.
I have friends who live in Oscar by the sea, it's less dense there, and better air. Personally speaking, and my friends who live in Hang Hau and Tiu Keng Leng all agree, Hang Hau is WAY to dense and busy. Residence Oasis is nice, but it's like the central station .... SO busy, the lobby of the apartments are always so crowded, and so many people in and out.
I would choose something in Tseung Kwan O area, or Clearwater Bay area (many affordable houses or apartments here).... and just head to Hang Hau for shopping, and eating ,and hang out.
there are MANY expats in this area. The Po Lam area and Hang Hau area have many expats shopping and dining b/c they mostly live in Clearwater Bay area.

Hi Mummybee,
we live in Residence Oasis and are very happy here! I love the fact that we can step outside and take walks with the buggy (it's very flat). There are a couple of parks really close by (short walk to a little park, a longer walk to a bigger park) and on bad weather days we can just step outside to the shopping centres. The MCHC is also very very close.
We can be on Silverstrand beach in 10 minutes, Sai Kung in 20 minutes or Central in 25 minutes (we don't have a car) so we have the best of both worlds.
The clubhouse is excellent for adults. Our baby is still very small and there is just a big crawling area for babies. There is a big indoor climbing area and an outside climbing frame thing for older children. My only concern is that there often seem to be children in the clubhouse without parents or helpers and the staff seem too shy to send the kids away when unaccompanied!
Other than that, the only thing I miss is an outdoor space - we have a balcony but I'm sure when baby is bigger it would be nice to have a garden.
Feel free to pm me if you want any more info (we lived at Ocean Shores before so can tell you about there too!)
We love living here anyway, what more can I say!

Mummybee, glad to hear the pillow is good for you. My baby's eczema is all better. No more. Thank goodness. Now, it's ME..... must be the weather... using the Pinetarsol for shower... it seems to help a lot. Less itchy.
If you are in the area (I live in Silverstrand).... let me know, we should get together sometime.
PM me ok?

mummybee,
I am told you can walk to Hang Hau from Oscar by the Sea in about 10 mins.

You COULD walk from Oscar by the sea, but I wouldn't. You have to go through a couple of turnabouts, and expressway....lots of FAST cars and buses zooming by....
Oscar By The Sea has shuttle buses (green mini buses) that are designated between Hang Hau and Oscar. VERY frequent, 5 minutes a departure.... but you have to pay for it each time.
My friends enjoy living there, I also find it very pleasant surrounding, but it's a little isolated, but that's why they like it, they rather be "isolated' than being over crowded all the time.

Hey mums,
Just to update that we have signed our new lease contract for Ocean Shores to start Feb this year. Not Residence Oasis afterall, although we so intended to rent there. Thanks, Vivian, we decided to see Ocean shores from your recommendation and we loved it the moment we arrived. Lovely complex, lovely clubhouse/playgrounds, lovely air and view!!! So looks like you would have a new neighbour soon. Once we settle after chinese new year, expect to receive PM from me to meet up for coffee and cake!
Incidentally, I lost my "mummybee" profile while uopdating my email address and ALL my mails were gone!!!! Have to register a new account...how sad to lose all my messages..

Hi I just coincidently checked on this forum and think may be you could help me a bit on some recommendation.
I'm about to move to HK this year (although now i'm in KL) and my company (a UK based company) plans to open new office in
in Kowloon Bay. Last week I have been in HK with my bosses and i got a chance to see around 2 housing areas 1. Amoy Garden 2. Telford Square. Anyhow I dont like the place although it is convenience for me to go to the new office because the buildings are old, dirty, and crowded. I am looking for a quite place, easy to get around with MTR or public transport, a bit of greenery, and easy to find foods, shops and clinics. My company will pay for the rental of not more than HK10,000 per month with a studio/1 room/2 rooms. Do you think around the area of Kowloon Bay I can get an apartment like this ?

Cyltess, I started this thread but am not able to help you with your question as I am unfamiliar with Kowloon Bay. A friend of mine lives in Telford Square though and her apt, though not brand new, looks clean and tidy. Extremely convenient with multiple shopping complexes just downstairs, although this means it is really crowded (that is typical of HK though).
Why don't you create a new thread in, say, the "Property Chat" and I am certain you will get more responses. Alternatively, do a search of "Kowloon Bay" and see what you come up with.
Good luck!

Hi Mummybee1, thanks for your reply anyway. Actually I was thinking not near Kowloon Bay but as I seen many people are recommended the Ocean Shores, or housing in Tiu Keng Leng,TKO,Hang Hau, or PO Lam as the MTR is convinient to reach to Kowloon Bay station. Anyway, I will create another thread on this. Thanks.
