That's only half true. Netvigator blocks outgoing port 25 (SMTP default) traffic. This is to prevent computers on their network acting as spam bots. You will be able to use Gmail SMTP with SSL on port 465 without any problems if you follow devoncouple's settings.

If you use Gmail as your smtp server, you are only aloud to send out e-mails with your Gmail e-mail account, with the result of having reply's going to that account too. If you want to use your own or business e-mail account and you are on different networks, you need an external authenticated smtp server. For only 19,95 per year you will never have to change your settings again: http://www.travelsmtp.com -> their smtp server works on every network, at home, business or foreign coutries with the use of your own e-mail software and your own e-mail address. Since port 25 is blocked often, their server runs on a different tcp port.

Actually, you can set the "reply to" parameter in your email program to a different email.

Yeah but then not all e-mail clients read out the e-mail header the same way, some e-mail clients will still show the gmail e-mail address (cause its also in the header of the e-mail), others will use the "Reply-To" address in the header and Outlook 2007 for instance will show "blabla@gmail.com on behalf of blabla@yourownaddress.com".
