Ipod Repair

My Ipod has died. I cant get it to turn on at all and when I plug into the pc nothing happens. Its 18 months old therefore outside of the warranty period. When I took it to the Apple repair place in Causeway Bay, they took a brief look at it and then said that there must be some hardware failure and it wasnt worth sending away for repair as the costs would be greater than buying a new one.

Does anybody know of any other places that fix Ipods. There must be some places in Wanchai that does this

i have had the same issue. once the "sad ipod" face appears on the screen then there really is nothing you can do. i was angry at first and swore to never buy another apple product again. three months later i bought another ipod, an ipod hi fi and another macbook. if however there is a fault with the battery then you can change that yourself. look on "you tube" for ipod repairs and there are video's of guys doing it for you. if you can source a battery it looks very easy to do yourself and your warranty is already void so no need to worry about that.

or you could just buy another one as i did. then the hard choice is between black nano aluminium or black video ipod. about the same price.

but before you rush out to by a new mp3 player, remember that apple will launch the apple phone in july in the us and probably the end of the year for everyone else and that is a very nice piece of kit.

what happens if it doesnt seem to charge anymore? i have a 2G nano and the battery was low so i plugged in the charger and....nothing. Now the battery is dead. No sad ipod face, just nothing. The charger works because i have the 30G ipod and works fine. Any ideas?
