A friend of mine highly recommends this Goat milk formula, Karihome. Anyone's children drinking this? Some have told me children with Eczema can try goat milk, improves their skin...

Just wondering, if I should switch formulas AGAIN!

If its any help, I switched to powdered goats milk for myself (since I'm still b/f) and when bubbs turns the plan 1 I'll give him reconstituted goats milk from the powder. I wonder if theres any harm in this.

I bought the formula as well, but havent dared try it.

I can only join into the recommendation. I have been feeding goats milk to my son since he is 3months old (now 19months). I have been told by my midwife (since I didn't have enough milk) that goatsmilk is the closest to breastmilk. It's also easier to digest than cows milk or soy formula. I used to buy Karihome but switched to the Organic goats milk available at Bumps to Babes. It's HK$ 100 less per tin.

My older one is drinking it.... seems to like it, and seems to digest better. So, it's more expensive, but if it's good for them, especially with eczema, people highly recommend that I switch. So far so good.

Expensive though.

My daughter also has eczema on face and back. She scratches especially when tired and at night is the worst. It's terrible to see her face red and sore. I keep putting cream on (eg aqueous cream, kwong sang hong twin girls cream) but doesnt seem to help. Soy milk gives her constipation, pellets for stools, so not a good choice for us. I also want to know if switching to goat's milk will be better, what brand and should we go to the paed again for his advice? One paed said dont go onto goat's milk cos much is not known about it, while another says go onto goat's milk. What do you do?!

I know how frustrating it is... when your baby has eczema. I had it all my life, and my two babies had it in the first year... now both are basically eczema free in the last year. (Touch wood!)

My experience was this:

When my two kids had terrible baby eczema during the 5-6 months..... it was awful. I cried even just looking at how itchy, painful it was for them, but I couldn't do anything.

One pediatrician told me to switch to Soy milk. I did. for BOTH kids. But both kids, I gave them soy milk, until their skin looked a little better, ( about 1 month), then I switched back to normal Milk formula. And they never reacted to the milk again..... it was like an age thing.

I also tried switching to Goat's milk, Karihome.... two pediatricians said NO. The nutritional value of goat's milk is non-comparable to the milk formula. SO I stopped it. And now my kids drink both formula from SNOW Brand, and fresh milk.

Snow Brand according to both pediatricians, AND the dermatologist, said is the best one b/c it's from new zealand, and it has the simplest ingredients. The ones with all the "added" things... are actually what causes constipation, indigestion, gas, eczema, hives, nasal allergies...etc.

I switched. and thus far, it has been good. My baby is not too fat, not too thin, excellent skin, no more eczema outbreaks....

Also, in the last few months, I have been using BIODERMA products only on their skin.... it's a ritual, TWO days off the cream and the body wash, my daughter would start getting little itchy patches and rash on the back of her legs....

Can't live without this brand now.

Hope this helps. DON'T go on Goat's milk for the kids.

I use it, been using it for the last couple of months once a day, at his night feed. Baby is highly eczemic, but has no allergy to Karihome (thank god). When the frozen BM runs out in a couple of weeks I will have no issues switching completely to formula...

Its something like HK265 or thereabouts for a can which on one feed a day lasts about 3 weeks. If it becomes more regular I guess it will last about a week?

At one year (I've got about 5 weeks to go)... I'll switch him to goats milk.

He is still not on high protein except what he gets from my BM, formula and Quinoa. Growth and milestones seem to be OK so far, when should I start giving him a non-veg protein and what? Chicken and fish could kick off an allergy. Is goat meat too fatty/constipating?

Thanks!

I have 4 cans left of Nutramigen A+ milk formula (Brand New) left from a case that I brought from Canada.

If your child has cow's milk protein Allergy you may try this formula as my child is taking this one and all his enzyma had dissappeared. Beside this formula prescribed by my family doctor in Canada, he has a cream named ELOCOM which is also very good for the enzyma, i am not sure if you can get the same cream but you may try the pharmacy to get similar item.
