hi!
from 6 months, baby has been eating only organic oatmeal cereal - either earth's best or bellamy's.
he is now 10 months and eats a fair amount for breakfast. this means a box of cereal doesn't last more than a few days. these organic cereals are seriously not cheap!
we follow gina ford and according to her, you can also feed stuff like weetabix and readybrek. sg however doesn't have either brands, the closest to weetabix we have is the aussie weetbix. my friend feeds her 10 month old that. but i looked at the ingredients and there seems to be quite alot of sugar and salt.
any suggestions of what good cereal brands we can introduce to baby for breakfast? thanks!

have you tried regular quaker oatmeal? Just plain oatmeal - you can cook it in the microwave with milk - and I like to add a few bits of fruit into it (apples or pears) or one fruit cube to slightly make it more tasty. my daughter loves it - and it's very "stick to your ribs" kind of food.

stb,
no you can't! amazing eh??
no the aussie one is literally called weetbix, not by uncle toby's.
hkcc: didn't think of quaker oatmeal!! will try that out.

Hi,
My little one used to eat lots of Weetabix but he's a bit fed up with it now. He used to like Cheerios but dry, ReadyBrek Oatmeal, and recently we have started giving him rice crispies, soggy of course. I suppose alot depends on how many teeth your bubs has and whether he like to chew. My little one until recently HATED chewing and would spit anything out that wasn't mushed to death!!

Why make him eat soggy rice crispies? Babies can gum all kinds of things and eat just fine. You can also give a lot of cereals as finger foods. Besides oatmeal, I also used to make cheese toast and cut it into very small tidbits . . . but alas, that was in the days when I had a broiler. It was also before I discovered the joy of congee. If I had a baby now, he would get Chinese breakfast often!

MGR,
every kid is different and some would take time to get used to texture so maybe soggy rice crispies is the only way for go for squiggles' kid now.
that said, cheese toast sounds yummy, i might make that when he is older as i prefer to feed cereal in the morning so that he gets his milk.

Wheelymate,
Ta for sticking up for the soggy rice crispies!! The reason they're soggy is 'cos my little one likes them that way and he doesn't have that many teeth and he certainly is too lazy to chew much!!
