What food to give baby with cold

My 10 month old has a cold. She is refusing to eat her solids (probably because she finds it hard to breathe and chew at the same time).

Any advice on what to feed her?

She is just eating yoghurt at the moment and I worry that she isnt getting enough - particularly vit and mins including iron that she needs.

Im also worried that this set back is going to have an effect on her eating more solid food - ie lumps and chopped food rather than purees. I keep hearing that by 10 months they should be eating what we eat - she is so far off this and at the best of times still needs meat puree-ing.

Appreciate any advice to help during her cold and to get her on the right track towards more grown up eating.

Thanks

Sorry to hear your little one is sick.

Saline drops up the nose work great, a few drops before breast/bottle feed and it helps them breath, then followed by the meal.

Please don't panic about the 'the book says she shold be eating what we eat' all babies develop differently. I was worried our baby had texture aversion because it took him so long to eat solids (or any food with texture without throwing up!).. but he got there in the end. Even now at 13 months he still has some puree and some solids and some finger food, and is doing really well.

So feed her whatever she can get down, even if that means total puree mixed with yogurt. And when she recovers she will bounce back in no time.

Like crj said, dont worry about what your baby should eat. Give her anything which makes her happy. My kid ate properly only after 15-16 months old & she is absolutely fine.

for her cold, put some karvol drops on a bib & put the bib for her. The vapour will help her breathe better. However, put only a few drops of karvol.

when my baby is sick, he will reject foods that are too textured so i water down his food until he is better.

it's so sad to see our little ones sick and only managed to eat one type of food properly for a week or so but fret not, it shall pass - mine ate bananas for many days when he had a viral fever and ate very watery foods. but once he recovered, everything was back to normal again.

you'll just have to adjust during this period of time to make your baby as comfortable as possible.
