Work asking for sick certificate when not ill.

I have resigned from my job and regretfully during the notice period i have had to have an operation which means i have not been able to work. I have four days left at work and the doc has said i'm ok but work has aksed me not to go back as they feel it will be too disruptive and have asked that i ask my doctor for a sick certificate to cover the last few days.


Surely this is unethical and illegal?


Am i in my right to say "i will not ask my doc for sick certificate when i'm fit to work so you'll need to pay me full salary rather than 4/5ths if you want me to stay away"?


It's difficult becAuse i have had a good work relationship and they're making it difficult.

They might be thinking they're making it easy for you.


I would just pop in the office and tell them, the doctor will not give you sick leave.
